8.71 – Energetic summary
During the RSP energetic synthesis, we can use several tracks with words that range from the symbolic to the sense organ to the action disturbed by or the anatomical representation. Only the energy element or two that will emerge from the synthesis will be taken into account.
- Symbolism, metaphor
The first information provided by each of the energetic elements is its symbolism which, through a metaphor, can shed light on the disturbing mode of behavior without being aggressive because of a certain neutrality. Example: in the case of the Wood, it represents the English garden where any movement is configured to get to the desired place because it is possible to visualize it. In the case of a disability, you find yourself in the situation of having to cross a dark forest without knowing what is going to happen. It was in these woods that brigands and bandits hid and sought to rob the caravans that crossed them, hence the uncertainty about the future.
Each of the energetic elements has its symbolism. The one at the Feu is this fireplace corner, a place of conviviality, warmth and exchange. Its disorder is the fire that destroys everything in its path, like passion. Gaia is Mother Earth and Rodin’s statue represents thought, reflection, which are the responsibility of the Earth. Chainmail is the positive symbolism of Metal which allows you to protect yourself but also to benefit from a certain freedom. Otherwise, it is the armor that protects us excessively and makes any movement difficult. Finally, the symbolism of Water is the calm water that brings both life and serenity. His impairment is a sign of exhaustion, drowning and death with the storm.
- Disrupted action
The elements are associated with actions that can be combined with their sensory organ. The one in the wood is the start-up, the start-up. In the case of his impairment, the patient is standing still. He doesn’t see where to go because he has trouble projecting himself into the future, for lack of reference points to be able to identify the direction to take. This is why we invite him to appropriate the word « project« , the starter of the start, and, through visualization, fantasy and imagination, to project himself into the future by identifying the landmarks that will allow him to move towards the desired place. And then we are going to invite him to look at himself in a mirror with a benevolent look at himself because with the Wood, he does not like to look at himself. The way others look at them is not what we think, it’s ours. We perceive, through their eyes, the representation we have of our own image. Modifying it with the mirror exercise will bring appeasement and a certain serenity towards the other.
The disrupted action of the Fire is its difficulty, once it has started, to move forward for lack of energy. In fact, it is above all a lack of recognition: he does not believe that he is recognized, not loved because he does not recognize or love himself. Why not offer to become or become her friend again and favor caressing rather than punching. The Earth’s is not knowing how to do it, due to a lack of confidence, which leads to imbalance and discomfort. Inviting him to trust his subconscious and do as he thinks by verbalizing « I am interesting » allows him to put his brain in an open position and to glimpse the most appropriate way to respond to the situation that arises. The difficulty in expressing oneself, but also in accepting oneself as such, is related to Metal (Me-You). Why not try to free yourself by writing, without censorship, to the person to whom you have things to say, without sending the letter. And repeat it as many times as necessary until you agree with each of the written words. This is the way to liberation.
The standing man, firmly planted on his lower limbs, facing the other is the representation of Water. His disability devalues him, gives him a feeling of powerlessness and encourages him to step aside. the most appropriate way to change one’s behavior is the metaphor of the world map, Me and the Other. It reminds us that we are unique with our genetic history – the sperm is the bearer of the history of the paternal clan and the oocyte that of the maternal clan – but also our own history. It is the interpretation of our lived experiences and situations encountered, of programs related to our culture, our education, our environment, our expectations… that our brain has processed, interpreted and loaded with meanings, emotions but which are only our representations and not a truth. Pointing out to our patient that he has his own experiences and skills, certainly different from the Other but no less excellent, should encourage him to stand up, to stay upright and to no longer suffer. He can propose his own representations: if the Other agrees to exchange, both will be enriched; if it is not, our patient will remain standing.
- Synergy in PSR
Birth and young child (Wood) precede adolescence (Fire) which leads to adulthood and maturity (Earth). Then life declines in old age (Metal) before finding death (Water) which allows life to be given.
Morning is associated with Wood, noon with Fire, afternoon with Earth, late afternoon and early evening with Metal, night with Water.
Man glimpses his project (Wood), makes it progress and move forward (Fire), then he thinks about the best way to carry it out (Earth). He must therefore make choices (Metal) and make his decision (Water).
8.72 – Emotional summary
This emotional synthesis in RSP is both complex in terms of the number of pieces of information and simple in drawing out the essentials. It can be approached in its global form as well as in that of its specificities.
I – Overall summary
A deficiency in the emotions produced – guilt and belief – reveals an exaggeration of the situation. The patient wants to control everything: inviting him to let go, to do a little deck chair, to become cooler, turns out to be the wisest way to propose.
In the opposite case, that of the emotions suffered – lack and fear – he does not control his life and asks others to guide him. The metaphor of the « vehicle of life » is quite appropriate. Our patient can ask an « other » that he or she has chosen to take the wheel when he or she occupies the passenger seat. Then, as he moves forward, gaining more confidence, he switches places and takes the wheel, the other being a passenger. Later, having gained confidence, he can invite the passenger to get out of the vehicle and continue on his way.
II – Specific summary
It endeavours to identify which emotions – guilt, non-belief, fear, lack of dissatisfaction – are declined with the Five Elements that are deficient. Once these have been isolated, a message can be constructed and avenues, depending on the present situation, proposed to give the patient ways of release.
- Guilt
In our Judeo-Christian society, guilt predominates. This is why with RSP, we seek above all to bring the patient to relativize his judgments, his objections, to resettle him in his surrounding environment so that he can free himself from part of the negative vision he may have of himself. A decision taken or an act carried out cannot be dissociated from the environment in which he finds himself at the time. Once the situation has been identified, we can invite him to revisit it, to understand why he had this reaction – and not to judge himself – and to consider another mode of behaviour that seems more in line with his aspirations to respond to it. In this way, he enriches his behavioral palette which could allow him, later, in a similar situation, to react differently.
- Negative belief
How many times have we thought that we would not be able to achieve the goal we had set for ourselves? Maybe we weren’t able to discern the way to do it (Earth), to see how to go about it (Wood), to lack clarity or strength (Water), to make the right choice (Metal) or simply not to want to (Fire). We can look back a little bit and remember what we’ve already achieved in our lives and how we did it.
- Fear
Fear is inherent in life. René Char, the French poet and resistance fighter, wrote that « change is the only permanence in the world« . Studies have shown that if we were not afraid, we would not live more than a quarter of an hour, with danger all around us at every moment of the day. It can be declined according to the energetic elements in fear of the future (Wood) of moving forward or not being recognized (Fire), of doing wrong (Earth), of expressing oneself (Metal) or fear and insecurity (Water). As any change is a source of fear, we have two options: to do nothing and to remain immobile as Einstein wrote « do what you have always done, you will have the results you have always had » or Shakespeare « Our doubts are traitors, and deprive us of what we could often gain good, because we are afraid to try » or to move.
To stay alive, we are forced to move, to move forward, to evolve. But change makes us face the unknown that generates fear, that negative fear that makes us stay in the unsatisfactory situation we find ourselves in because of a lot of resistance. It leaves us in a state of immobility. Positive fear, the one that makes us want to go towards a desired state, makes us face it by dissecting it. Indeed, fear is a mixed emotion that seeks to fool us, to deceive us. It is a question of identifying each of the simple fears associated with it because at this level, a way out can be found. If I want to change jobs, for example, I will first highlight the danger that this will create: social, financial, family situation… But if I dissect each of these elements and bring ways to consider, I will not only alleviate these fears but they will help me to project myself and to consider the means to use to succeed in my business.
- Lack or need : a dissatisfaction
Very often, these shortcomings are only the consequences of a situation that result in anger or a feeling of injustice, emotional deprivation or discontent, unhappiness or annoyance, sadness, frustration or interiorization or even devaluation and a feeling of powerlessness. The consequences? If the guilt and fear of not being able to do so have been alleviated and reduced, or even eliminated, there will be no more consequences. This is the reason why in RSP, we do not dwell on it and favor the exploration of the first three types of emotion.
8.73 – Chains contribution to emotional summary
The role of the Coms is to bring precision to the emotion in order to shed light on it. Each of the thirty is associated with an organ and therefore carries a behavioral message, valuable information. Thus the heart is the support of emotional suffering, the duodenum (the two of us) relates to the other, the teammate, while the gonad (ovary, spermatozoon) relates to a person of the opposite sex. The deficient spleen is a sign of failure, doubt, lack of confidence. It is possible to counter the opposite process by talking to him about success. As for the adrenals, whose role is to defend the body against any inflammation and infection, which translates behaviorally into flight, renunciation, resignation, proposing to it to dare to go towards its goal is the most appropriate path.
8.74 – The observation and the positive message
At this stage, three syntheses having been studied, it is time to synthesize the positive message in one, two or three words. Excellence being simplicity » RSP is at the cutting edge. It is also the time to propose, if the situation requires it, a few additional tools to better enlighten the patient and help him or her to free himself.
- The frame of reference
We build our framework by observing the world in which we live, whether by objection-opposition or by modeling. Too narrow, we will be prisoners of it and blowing it up will be catastrophic because we will not be able to exist. Our first role models on whom we focus our radars are our parents, seeking to reproduce their gestures, their way of doing things, their attitudes… A little later, we continue our learning to get in tune with ourselves, build our framework and acquire the majority of the criteria that will be the basis of our personality. Then we expand it by taking into account the rules of our friends’ clans, not hesitating to oppose those of our family even if deep down we know that it is not necessarily beneficial. Each time, it is new experiences that enrich it and for which we can make a selection: this one is positive for me, I keep it, this one not, I won’t do it again. And then, when we reach adulthood, at a certain maturity, we will be able to keep the experiences from family and friend clans that seem to us to be the most beneficial to our personality.
The aim of PSR is to help the patient to widen his or her framework if it is too narrow, to reduce it if he or she tends to lose his or her limits. The setting is interesting when a person feels a little frustrated at not being able to evolve because of another, often the partner. By explaining to her that if she decides to wait for the other person to move, there will be no evolution. If they decide to move, and therefore to change their behavior, the other person will feel in danger, losing their bearings that allowed them to be « quiet ». In a large majority of cases, the other will in turn move and evolve.
- Success criteria
It was at the University of Santa Cruz in California that John Grinder – a linguist and doctor of psychology – and Richard Bandler – a mathematician and doctor of psychology – became interested in the way we learn, communicate and act in order to succeed in the 1970s. By synthesizing all the information collected from a thousand people observed, they learned that behavioral flexibility and the ability to achieve a goal were common criteria for the main players.
1 – Behavioral flexibility
is behavior that can be modified according to a given situation. To get from one place to another, the straight line is not necessarily the fastest because obstacles can be in its way. It is then a question of changing strategy and finding another way to reach the point of arrival. Similarly, some fights are useless and are best avoided. Changing course or avoiding an unnecessary exchange is not a failure, but in the face of the unexpected, it is important to adapt your behavior because the goal to be achieved is more important than the path to get there. It can be beneficial to listen to our feelings, our emotions and to consider them as important clues to avoid finding ourselves in an uncomfortable situation. Observing the other person’s behavior can help us adopt a more neutral attitude than we would have liked. Finally, active listening lies in the ability to listen on a more intuitive level, beyond the brain. She promotes communication between two people by adapting her listening to her interlocutor without judgment or prejudice. By taking a little distance, we feel freer to express ourselves and act.
2 – The ability

To achieve a goal requires meeting a number of criteria. It is possible to discuss them with the patient to give him a glimpse of how to succeed. And first of all, to distinguish between the ideal and the objective. The ideal is a star in the sky that gives us the desired direction but that will be very difficult to reach and a source of dissatisfaction. The objective is more down-to-earth but, provided that the different stages are respected, it is a source of satisfaction.
3 – The criteria
- 1 – Must be formulated in positive terms
- 2 – Precise and specific
- 3 – Under the control of the person
- 4 – Taking into account personal, organizational and capacity constraints
- 5 – Contextualized: where and when?
- 6 – Testable: don’t skip a step
- 7 – By avoiding personal or environmental disorders
- 8 – Meaning: what does it bring to the person ?
8.75 – Event summary

This synthesis makes it possible to identify the appearance of the first impact, the one that initiated the installation of the disruptive program, represented by the leaking faucet. In the vast majority of cases, it originates during the intra-fetal period, where the fetus has recorded everything that its mother felt. From the period of conception until around 2-3 years of age, it is family patterns that the child has imprinted automatically and unconsciously. As we have seen with the start-up cycle, there is a high probability that in a similar situation, it has reactivated the disruptive program and reproduced the same behavior at the other dates that emerge during a synthesis.
This synthesis makes it possible to identify the appearance of the first impact, the one that initiated the installation of the disruptive program, represented by the leaking faucet. In the vast majority of cases, it originates during the intra-fetal period, where the fetus has recorded everything that its mother felt. As we have seen with the start-up cycle, there is a high probability that in a similar situation, it has reactivated the disruptive program and reproduced the same behavior at the other dates that emerge during a synthesis.
The first avenue to be proposed is that of becoming aware of the relationship that exists between the events of the past, repressed and imprinted in our unconscious, with those of the present. His programs buried during his intrauterine life have conditioned a good part of his behavior that it is possible for him to modify without betraying his parents who did what they could or thought they were doing well.
Another way is to revisit one of these events while leaving it in its environment. Once you have visualized the situation without passing judgment on the behavior adopted at the time, you can, with hindsight, wonder if there were other ways to manage the situation. In this way, the patient will enrich his behavioral palette that he will be able to activate during a future episode.
8.76 – The positive message and the anchoring
The session ends. The patient was able to become aware of the relationship between the ailments that prompted him to consult and this or that event where he reproduced his disruptive program. He was able to better understand the mechanisms and see how to free himself from them. We are going to invite him to forget everything we have seen during this interview, his subconscious retaining the important words. Why? Because if he consciously seeks solutions, he will only reproduce those he knows and has acquired. Once the beneficial program has been proposed, it is a question of facilitating its implementation in the subconscious in place of the disturber. The principle consists of soliciting one’s subconscious, which has enormous resources, to propose its own solutions.
To do this, we use an anchor, sensory stimuli, in RSP to promote the integration of the beneficial program. The five elements are associated with colors: green for Wood, red for Fire, yellow for Earth, white for Metal, black of death for Water, to which we prefer the blue of life. The rainbow’s color palette can also serve as a medium. A palpatory listening indicates which one is appropriate for the patient to contribute to the implementation of the new program.
All they have to do is place a piece of paper, a post-it note, a piece of cloth in the defined colour in a place where they are regularly – in the kitchen or living room, on the desk or dashboard of the car – and, when they see it, mentally pronounce the positive message. The first few days, the number of activations will be significant and then decrease. It doesn’t matter because whenever the support of the set color is in his field of vision, the program will be activated automatically. Here we find the principle proposed by Pavlov, which consists of repeating visual stimuli very often to stimulate the positive message. This makes some of my patients say that with my approach they have nothing to do.
This is not entirely true because they may be led to revisit certain dates, to take a benevolent look at themselves, to free themselves by writing, to think about getting back on their feet… This is a slow evolution. It is not by snapping your fingers that you will change your behavior. However, some patients notice from one session to the next an evolution that no longer reacts in the same way to a given situation, which can disorient those around them. In other cases, it is those around you who notice the change in attitude and ask: « But what have you done? »
